Like Dr. Fopp, I have a harder time hearing ambient sounds when I'm wearing
the Lightspeed 20K headsets -- like the stall warning horn in my Cessna 150.
If I know it's coming -- like practicing slow flight or stalls -- then it's
okay. Makes me wonder what would happen if I really needed the warning, but
then, if you can't tell you're near stall in a 150 you probably don't have
any business flying one.
For what it's worth, I'll be using Jim Frantz' AoA gizmo, which will give
stall warning through the headset.
Yes, you are a little less aware of engine and airstream noise when wearing
an ANR headset, IMHO. But the hearing protection and reduced fatigue are
worth it.
