If I had to prime that much, I would look for induction leaks and lean low idle mixture settings.  Do you have a sniffle valve on that engine because if stuck open it can lean enough to kill idle.  8 psi at idle seems in the range so something else is requiring you to add fuel to keep things running.  But Really, exercise the gaskets?   Nonsense.  Move quickly away from that person's toolbox.

Hi All,

Recently I've noticed that when I start my TSIO500E engine that I have to press/release the primer button probably 50 times after the engine starts.   When I first got the plane a couple years ago I might have to press it 5 or 6 times.
