I've had engines quit (completely) due to trash blocking the inner operations of the fuel pump and the RSA fuel servo's. Go with a proven filter/screen at least as good as the one in the Lancair gascolator or the in-line filter. the gascolator was designed to the TCM spec's and certainly better than what's needed for the Lycoming installations. BEWARE buying one from the speed shop as there is a definite difference between carburated and Injected fuel flow's in the automotive world.
