I use McCreary 5.00X5 and have had no problems at all.

Subject: [LML] Re: Tires
I had the very same problem with goodyear customII on my Legacy. the tires were delivered together from Chief Aircraft and one side was grooved out the size of the top fork bolt after the first flight. The clearance looked good enough now so i continued to use them a few hours. After noticing molten rubber splash on my flap, i decided to check a little further. after ascertaining that strut and axle measured the same on both sides, i returned the tire to Goodyear, fphotgraphing the numbers and computer code of both sides. As it turned out they were manufactured in different plants and the plant from south america was slightly oversized as measured on inflation. apparently it met specks as a carry on bag must fit in a receptacle at airport checkin. They replaced the tire . By the way, I have switched to Goodyear III. which I like a lot better and they supposedly last a lot longer. I only hope to wear out many sets..:)

Just an update, I tried the Desser Retread tires for my Legacy (not the Monster retreads). Desser told me they were exactly the same as OEM 5.00x5s. The fit was marginal at first but after a few hours, they grew a little. They’re touching top fork bolts and probably won’t fit the wheel wells now. They are probably at least .5in larger than OEMs. I will have to R&R and try and return them.
