I am not flying yet... but

I have only bolts, bulkhead fittings and two push-pull cables that pass
through the firewall.

The bolts hold the engine mount, brackets and other solid items - they
typically have a washer but no other sealing method.

The bulkhead fitting are for fuel lines, cabin heat, and electrical - each
has a flange and no other sealing method.

The push pull cables go through a sleeve through the firewall, and I gooped
them up with RTV.
