Lancair Flyers,
I received the following email from Jenny Hayden in California, and followed
up with
a call to her about her dad's airplane.
If any of you could refer her to a qualified appraiser, or would be
interested in this airplane,
please contact her via email above.
Please also encourage her, as I did, to require anyone, including her
brother, to have flight training in
this aircraft before trying to "take it
out for a spin."
Thanks,
Bob P

Subject: Value of Lancair IV-PT?
Hi
Bob,
I got your information from the Lancair Mailing List and saw that you are
very active on it. I'm thinking that you know a
lot about Lancairs and
perhaps point me in the right direction. My Dad built a Lancair IV-PT and
finished it in 2006. He
passed away last November and I'm trying to
understand how much it is worth. My brother is interested in taking it from
the
estate. My Dad left his estate 50/50 to myself and my brother, so we are
trying to figure out what the value of the plane should be if
he were to take
it from the estate. Any idea on the value based on the specs below? Is there
a certified appraiser that
you know that understands the nuances of Lancairs
in particular and would give an accurate value?
Here are the specs of the plane and I'm
attaching a picture of the outside (I
don't have a full picture of the avionics panel):
Engine: Walter 601D
Avionics:
Garmin
GMA 340 Audio panel
Garmin GNS430W WAAS GPS/NAV/Com with Glide slope indicator
Garmin SL 30 NAV/Com
Garmin GTX330 Mode S transponder with
TIS
Tru-Trak Sorcerer Autopilot
Single screen Chelton SV Efis System
Garmin GMX 200 MFD with traffic.
It is pressurized
There is A/C
No de-ice on the wings.
If you would be willing to have a quick phone chat I'd love to talk a little
bit about it
with you. My phone number is below.
Thanks so much!

George, I try to stay off grass. I have in the past but it shaacks the $%#& out of the panel and nose gear, which is connected to the motor mount. In a pinch yes. Not on a regular basis.
