 Why not just add a small spacer to the engine mount at the firewall.  This would
put the whole engine assembly forward a little bit giving you more space at the cowl.
After all you probably only need about 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch or so.

You could consider a plate between the crankshaft flange and the prop.  However, that might change the dynamic vibration and its harmonics?  Seek advice from Hartzell.
 
Can the rear of the spinner be shaved without reducing structural integrity?
