I flew in primer for one year and it allowed me to find the rub points between moving parts, create sufficient gaps for clearance and new paint and the final product is a closely fitted airframe with a good paint job.

Hey Gary, if married, I would ask your wife.  Mine told me (years ago) that if I flew it before painting, I would never paint it... probably true.  Earl

G'Day All,

I would like to hear from anyone regarding the Pros and Cons of painting before the Test Flying or doing the test flying with the aircraft in primer.

What did you do?

I have always believed that I would paint before test flying but there are many arguments as to why you could fly in primer only.

Many Thanks
