In my case and many others, we decided it was not worth it and made the decision to install the fixed step used on the ES. In fact, I know people who have torn the retractible out in favor of the ES step. Contact Matthew Collier at Fibercraft and he can help you with the parts. It cost us nothing in airspeed and no one can tell the difference at FL270. Also, it is more comfortable to stand on and looks infinitely better.
