Somebody asked about the Lancair engineer quitting. It was posted on AvWeb
....... June 19 I think.

LANCAIR CHANGES NAME, PRESSES FORWARD WITH NEW PLANE...
Lancair's tent is always a popular place at aviation events, and the
recently held Sun 'n Fun Fly-In in Lakeland, Fla., was no exception.
The buzz in Lakeland was over the company's plans to produce a faster
and more expensive plane, a turbocharged version of the Columbia 300
called appropriately enough, the Columbia Turbo 400.  Lancair's goal is
to have the 400 certified by 2001, with a target price of $365,000-ish.

...AND COLUMBIA 300 IS A GREAT PLANE, IF YOU CAN GET IT
People love the sleek look and promised speed of the Columbia, but the
really big question is Lancair's ability to get the planes built and
out the door.  Only one Columbia 300 has been delivered to a customer
so far, in February, to a buyer in the Lancair factory town of Bend,
Ore.  Another concern is the departure of chief engineer, Greg Cole.
AVweb has learned that Cole left the company to develop a high-
performance ultralight sailplane, but how Cole's departure will slow
Lancair's plans is not known.
