Those of you who have elected not to BID-tape your LNC2 instrument panel in
place, but have instead made little flanges and screwed the panel to the
flanges -- how many plies did you use to make the flanges?
The manual says to use 3-BID to glass the panel directly to the fuselage
sidewalls and spar cap. I made flanges with 4-BID, and have not yet
installed nutplates. I suspect that if I ran the numbers, I would find that
it's strong enough, but it seems rather wimpy to me. The fix is simple --
throw on another 2 BID -- but before I add unnecessary weight (even if it is
only an ounce or so) I thought I'd ask how many plies y'all have used, and
how well it holds up in service.
