Steve, did you ever get a chance to look back at what company this was that you purchased your floor paint from? We've completed our new hangar and we're wanting to do the same w/ it. Looking for a professional level /quality finish. I've tried a few in the past and lots of suppliers talk the talk, but the 'walk' part of the equation is lacking. This is for a company I fly for and they want nothing but the best in finish and quality. The aircraft we plan on putting on it are in the 6-9000 range and have a habit of leaving tire marks, which is one of the main things we're seeking to stop/avoid. Second is the professional [mirror] finish that one see's in the 'Jet Centers' and similar FBO's. Of course clean up [squeege down after washing etc] is a given but should come w/ a floor w/ a good finish. I'm totally ok w/ etching the floor and top coats etc, as long as the final result stands up to the traffic etc. Thanks in Advance sir! Jarrett Johnson 235/320 55%

I built a hangar in Texas a couple of years ago and applied two Grey Epoxy and one Clear Polyurethane coatings. I had planned to do it all myself but it turned out to be more labor intensive than I thought. After doing the acid etch myself I hired two Foreign Exchange Students to roll on the coatings to the 3600 sq. ft. floor while I cut in the edges with a brush and mixed the material.
Material and tools cost about $3,300, labor about $300, figure 5 to 7 working days. The upside is a beautiful floor that is super easy and quick to clean with an industrial size dust mop. It does not tire spot and spills just wipe up. Downside is, it is slicker than ice when wet. A friend added the recommended size sand with no noticeable improvement.
I bought it from a company in Arkansas that has advertised in Trade a Plane for many years (I can look them up for you). They also sell tools and include instructions. Call me if you want to talk about it.
