I initially experienced the same thing, smoother touchdowns with 30 degs...but eventually I just started using 40 all the time, wanting to = use a consistent procedure. I use 80kias if it it's just me in the airplane, = or 83kts if I'm heavy...and I can routinely grease it if I'm paying enough attention. 12.5-13" of MP on final on a typical glide path gets the job done. What speeds are you using on final?
