I'm using a prop governor made in the Chec republic - the name of which is unspellable and unpronouncible, at least by me.  It was available from Whirlwind propellers and has worked perfectly for me.  My takeoff rpm is usually within 10 rpm of the setpoint.  It is about 2 pounds lighter and 2 inches shorter than a McCauley.  Only problem was that it didn't come preset for 2700 rpm and I had to experiment a little to get it right.  Someone could put it on a test stand and set it before first flight and that would be better.  Works for me.

Hello everyone,

What is your experiences with propeller governors and what manufacture would you go with?

Presently I have a McCauley with an MT propeller on IO-550. I had had continued problems with the governor and I'm looking to replace it with a different brand.

The other brands available.

PCU5000

Or

Woodward
