I had used the junk orange jacks Lancair had sold (? if they still do). I had
the aircraft high to swing gear - one of the jacks began to loose pressure and
nearly tipped the whole thing on the floor.
I purchased a pair of Meyer jacks - I can get the model if interested. They have
a much more stout construction, and a metal pin to secure the jack so hydraulic
pressure alone is not holding the aircraft up. They are a bit pricey, but I
figured probably cheaper than putting a jack hole through my wing.
I did have to modify the screw in jack points for the plane. Stock is bascially
a cup - had to turn it on a lathe - transfored into a jack point (cone shape)
to nest in the top of the jack.
