I too have considered an "electronic" ignition but after a presentation
by Slick at a recent EAA meeting, I decided to wait awhile. If I
understood it correctly, their system really only provides added benefits
at high altitudes. I've forgotten how high you must fly before the
timing starts readjusting but it was higher than I usually fly in the
'flat-lands' of the Midwest. (I'm sure to be corrected if this is not
accurate & I invite discussion)
It's been several years since I attended a forum given by Klaus Savier
but I do not remember high altitudes being a requirement with his system.
I assume by now he has made numberous 'improvements' and I hope to
attend an updated forum this year. His prices were also quite high then
(by my standards) & I'll bet they also have been updated.
Plus, my mags are brand new and although they only have been run at the
factory, I'd be forced to sell them at reduced (read used) prices.
BTW, the June issue of Sport Aviation has an article about Klaus's Eze
but not much is said about the electronic ignition. Getting 145HP from
an 0-200 @ 3000RPM caught my attention though.... Earl
