Jeff,
LOBO has not abandoned anything. We have a very fine group of highly
qualified instructors. Our newest instructor , Bill Harrelson, has over
1600 hours in his 320 and would be an excellent choice for instruction.
Bill's contact information is on our website.
FYI-- here are our challenges from a flight instructor standpoint. We
have about 1000 flying Lancair airplanes comprising 11 models from the 200 to
the Evolution. These aircraft are spread over several continents. We have a half
dozen instructors spread over CONUS. Some west coast, a couple east coast and a
few here in the middle. Some have experience in a two or three models,
and some have experience in only one model.
If I could find more qualified Lancair experienced instructors (and the
emphasis is on qualified) then we would spend the time and money to train
them in LOBO's standardization and evaluation program and qualify them as
LOBO recommended instructors. We are looking for top notch instructors with a
pro pilot background with Lancair experience. Since there is a dearth of those
guys I have personally spent my time and money training instructors in my
aircraft that have zero Lancair experience so that we have a pool of instructors
to call upon. If you know of any qualified instructors any please send them
my way.
There will never be a Lancair qualified instructor in every major
metropolitan area. Not enough demand and not enough talent. Therefore, in order
to get qualified training you are going to have to spend a few dollars to get to
where the instructor is or vice versa.
If there is enough interest LOBO will consider hosting training at
specified locations so that we can get instructors and pilots together and save
some expenses. We will probably do this at next fall's LOBO/ Lancair fly in.
Best Holiday Regards,
Jeff Edwards
