Wow... I have seen a few that meet your description. Most others have been pretty normal looking. One in the store closest to my house is a normal looking gray haired guy just like me. He knows his stuff, and that is why I like home. Some of those "weird looking" ones in the stores near me have demonstrated that they know their stuff, I like them too. Some of the normal looking are full of wrong answers & bad info, and I found it aggravating to listen them giving technically inaccurate answers. Now your comment answers a question that I kept to myself until now... "I wonder how much dressing like that hurts their credibility?". In the end, I want technically correct and complete answers. If I get that from them, how they dress makes no difference to me. If they are giving out bad info, I don't care how "normal" they appear, the info is still wrong.
Independent of appearance, they are not all created equal. I have encountered some unimpressive "Geniuses" (misnomers in those cases), but most have been very good at providing first rate tech support. As someone who has made a career of providing advanced tech support, I am in a position to judge good from bad.
Now wouldn't it be nice if we got back to Lancair related discussions, and strive to stick to technically accurate facts. I know that I devote time in things like LML, to learn. When misinformation, and irrelevant opinionated comments are being posted, it wastes our time, and in some cases leads us in unproductive directions.
