It has a Broadcom BCM4750 single chip. Below are links to information on the Broadcom website about the GPS hardware that is in the iPad WiFi + GPS units. http://www.broadcom.com/products/GPS/GPS-Silicon-Solutions/BCM4750 http://www.broadcom.com/press/release.php?id=1055166 As another LML person in this discussion indicated, Wikipedia has information about what AGPS is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS It starts out by saying "*Assisted GPS*, generally abbreviated as *A-GPS*, is a system which can, under certain conditions, improve the startup performance, or TTFF (Time To First Fix) of a GPSsatellite-based positioning system. It is used extensively with GPS-capable cellular phones as its development was accelerated by the U.S. FCC 's 911 mandate making the location of a cell phone available to emergency call dispatchers." So you are confusing AGPS with what early 1st Gen iPhones, iPhone 3g, and iPad with WiFi used to get location approximation. In the Spec Sheet you refer to it has "Assisted GPS (Wi-Fi + 3G model)", accuratly indicating that it is in the WiFi + GPS model only. I think if you re-read my previous post more carefully, you will see I am not confusing IP geolocation with GPS. As another LML person in this discussion indicated, Wik= ipedia has information about what AGPS is:

It starts out by saying "Assisted GPS, generally abbreviated as=A0A-GPS, is a sys= tem which can, under certain conditions, improve the startup performance, o= r TTFF (Time To First Fix) of a=A0GPSsatellite-based= positioning system. It is used extensively with GPS-capable=A0cellular phon= es=A0as its development was accelerated by the U.S.=A0FCC<= /a>'s=A0911 mandate= =A0making the location of a cell phone available to emergency call dispatch= ers."

So you are confusing AGPS with what early 1st Gen iPhones, iPho= ne 3g, and iPad with WiFi used to get location approximation.

In the Spec Sheet you refer to it has "Assi= sted GPS (Wi-Fi + 3G model)", accuratly indicating that it is in the W= iFi + GPS model only.

I think if you re-read my previous= post more carefully, you will see I am not confusing IP geolocation with G= PS.

The iPad WiFi model is advertised by A= pple as=20 having AGPS capabilities but the unit will not do GPS.
I call that crippled. See the spec she= et under=20 "Location" about 2/3 down the page.
=A0
. . . and don't confuse IPgeolocation with real GPS . . . assisted= or=20 otherwise.

Can you be more specific about what you are saying "Apple=20 cripples"?
