Each state has different rules so it makes sense to list the three states you're talking about and if you have nexus in those states with sales or use tax (house, business, directorship etc). It has little to do with your ID location. In my case, I bought from a seller in FL, closed the sale after landing in GA and kept the Legacy in MT for 6 months where there is no use or sales tax. I spoke with Tallahassee revenue folks and confirmed the treatment and that no sales or use taxes in FL would apply once I brought the Legacy back to FL (after 6 months). The whole thing saved me money as I had a propr o/h and 430W upgrade done at Kalispell and the cost to get from FL to MT and stay is relatively low. The FAA records will trigger the buyer's state to inquire but your liability is going to depend on the actual conditions which might not surface until years later with an audit or inquiry. Best to figure it out now. Most of this info is available on the web but there are only a few locations where no sales or use tax applies.
