The states discover that you have purchased a plane off of the FAA registration application. You will probably have both states that have taxes trying to soak you if they identify that you live in their state. If I looked your pilot license up on the FAA records, where would you live? I bet you need a lawyer! Of course, if you have three residences, maybe it is not such a big problem after all.. :>) Bill B -----Original Message----- From: Lancair Mailing List [mailto:lml@lancaironline.net] On Behalf Of Danny Miller Sent: Wednesday, October 27, 2010 6:31 AM To: lml@lancaironline.net Subject: [LML] Aircraft registration & taxes Can anybody tell me if one must provide proof of residence when purchasing & registering an aircraft? Here's the deal. I have residences in three states. One of those has no sales tax. I'm buying an airplane and want to have it registered in the "no sales tax" state but none of my ID demonstrates I live there. Any pointers would be welcome. Danny
