Preliminary information from
Continental indicates that “the rocker arm in question is over
thirty years old. It also had numerous defects that appear to indicate
that it would not pass rebuild, overhaul or serviceable limits.”
It also appears that the Los Angeles FAA FSDO may be
investigating. If you have concerns about your engine or can report
any defects or deficiencies found in an engine that came from
Performance Engines, they should probably be reported there. A
