I agree with Scott that silicon caulk is the best permanent solution. It
should be put on after the plane is painted. I would recommend putting the
caulk on after at least some of your time has been flown off. You certainly
won't need the extra 1 knot that sealing the gap might provide during the
test period. Just stick some electrical tape on it for the first flights.
When testing has progressed to the point that it's unlikely that you'll want
to remove the wings and take it home for any kind of adjustment, repair, or
modification you can put the caulk on. Doing it as Scott described is a
relatively easy and quick task. Don't bother with it now.
