Per,

First, wait until your engine has been fully broken in. Run the engine hot and heavy until your oil consumption has gone down and the CHT's have lowered. This is the indication that your rings have sealed.

Next, if the number 1 plug is still oil covered, replace the plug with an iridium plug that is gapped at .022". This will light up the gas as well as can be done with magnetos. Always lean as much as possible on the ground. When flying at altitude, lean at least to peak whenever the engine is at 75% or less power. Your engine manual recommends the peak LOP setting. I fly LOP whenever possible.
