I cut about 5" off my Koger track and now I am having second thoughts.  If you leave it the stock length the sunshade can be pushed forward and down far enough to function like a sunvisor in a car.  The 1/4" track on the canopy probably would not be that much in the way. The Koger Sunshade is indispensible in our Legacy. It’s very well designed and easily adjustable in flight.

Canopy covers have a couple of problems.  Even if the cover, your canopy and surrounding paint are squeaky clean, wind and dust over a very short time creates an abrasive combination for fine scratches.

This Light Weight Travel-Cover   http://www.aircraftcovers.com/index.php?cPath=1_5_390_393&tplDir=fallback    as shown on the lower photo seems to be good choice to minimize abrasion.  It is made of a spandex type material that fits tightly and may be water repellant if you need that.

Fortunately our Legacy does not leak, so we have a 4' wide, 5' long cockpit cover made of Koger Sunshade material works best for us.  This acts as a sunshield and is quickly attached with Velcro tabs in the front. So easy we stick it on for a lunch stop.  It’s very light weight and compact when folded too.  I got the material from D.J. at Cleveland Tool.
