Brian,
We have experience in doing one of the only two door ES's out there. The
factory was looking to us quite a bit for input during this process
since they had not done one themselves. I can tell you that the process
_was_ very interesting and different. First of all when you cut out the
second door opening, the upper fuselage looses a considerable amount of
strength. This becomes a problem when you hop inside to try and do a few
bids. If you have the fuselage on a jig like we always do, the top will
try to buckle right at the 'T' top section. Rebuilding the necessary
strength in this section is critical. I can help with these details and
a few other specifics that came up during the process if you give me a
call. (541) 419-5634
Our two door ES has been complete for some time now. It is painted,
instrument panel ready and is only awaiting the final installation of a
brand new, and quite incredible, firewall forward package from RDM.
More to come....
