TSIO 550 guys and or smart engine = guys:

I am having a vibration issue and want to see if = anyone has=20 ideas on what to look for.  Basically, at takeoff and climbout to = around=20 10,000=92, the motor and prop are very smooth and strong.  There is = no=20 vibration (prop very recently balanced) and all numbers are = normal.  As I=20 pass above 10k to the low flight levels, a vibration in the motor starts = to=20 develop, and when I level off and set the engine for cruise (LOP, 18gph, = 34 MAP,=20 2500 RPM) the vibration is at its worst.  It=92s almost like the = prop is out=20 of balance, which is why I had the prop balanced at 2500 rpm.  = Speeds are=20 good and all engine numbers are normal, no changes.  This will = remain for=20 an hour or 2, then the motor seems to magically smooth itself out. On = descent=20 and landing, motor seems smooth and all numbers are normal. Very = recently, on a=20 4.5 hour flight, about 3.5 to 4 hours in the vibration slowly came = back.  I=20 don=92t know what to blame, and my motor mechanic is looking at me = funny.  I=20 should note that at no time do I think the vibration is horrible or = unsafe, just=20 annoying.  I can feel it in the stick and see it in the panel when = its=20 happening.

Things I have ruled out:

&= nbsp;     =20 Balance of the prop

&= nbsp;     =20 Dirty plugs or fuel injectors (new plugs and cleaned = injectors)

&= nbsp;     =20 Speed effect (increase or decrease speed has no effect)

         &= nbsp;     =20 Fuel issues

&= nbsp;     =20 Flight control flutter or anything like that

Things that have been suggested:

&= nbsp;     =20 A bad valve in a cylinder that doesn=92t show until you get to=20 altitude,

&= nbsp;     =20 Or bad compression in a cylinder that comes and goes (all cyl=92s were = comp tested=20 a month ago though)

&= nbsp;     =20 Turbo controller not scheduling properly as you climb

&= nbsp;     =20 Fuel injection system malf?

         &= nbsp;     =20

I=92m hoping one of you has had this problem and = can point me=20 and the mechanic to the possible culprit.  Appreciate any=20 comments
