Subject: Legacy / Engine Mount Shims

After 3 1/2 years and just over 400 hours on my Legacy, the spinner was starting to sag below the cowling line by .080 in.

We wanted to shim the front engine mount, but by how much?  A (smart) friend of mine did some measuring.... triangulations and ciphering.  The conclusion was to raise the spinner .080 we needed .040 shims to return the spinner to even.

My friend then custom milled some washers (shims) to .040, we installed them and it worked perfectly.

Anyone else with this situation.... remember..... to lift the spinner on a Legacy, try a shim under the front engine mount equal to 1/2 the thickness you need to raise it.

Hope that helps.
