On my IV-P I use on spring at the rear of the cear door and one at the front
and have never had a problem. No cables.

[Thanks for the prompt reply, Wendell... you pretty much confirmed what I thought. I'm still curious about where this cable operated assist came from.  <Marv>   ]

Subject: [LML] LIV gear door closer?

Is the use of a cable-assisted closing mechanism something standard on the
main gear doors of LIVs now?  I thought the beefed up springs (now two, was
one in the early days, if memory serves) took care of most of the gear door
problems.  Is the mechanical cable actuator an option from Lancair or an
after-market add-on from a third party?  Any answers will be appreciated.  TIA
