if your landing gear does not retract after take-off , as you are unable to know the reason ,check the C/B, try to do another manoeuver and if it is unsuccessfull ,LAND . Do not  try anything else as you must find the cause of the problem . Put your plane on  jacks and then investigate ,as your plane on jacks is in a SAFE position for that .If there is a mecanical reason for your gear to not retract , and you insist to retract it , may be you can ,after several attempts , retract it but be unable to lower it  . So , don't tempt the devil , LAND then check .

Upon departure today in my Legacy, the landing gear failed to retract. We landed and of course everything worked fine once we jacked the plane and tried it on the ground. However, I noticed that the inner gear door would chatter upon retraction and not extension.  After disconnecting the cylinder from the gear door, the chatter was evident in the now disconnected hydraulic actuator.

Two questions:

  1. Anyone have this occur and does it mean I need to replace the cylinder?
  2. I was told that the gear did not retract due to some kind of hydraulic lock and simply cracking open the dump valve and then closing it would have then allowed the gear to retract. Has this happened to everyone with Legacy RGs and is there a fix for this? I don’t really understand what exactly the problem is that is causing it

Thanks all.
