I could not get the card to bump the system into the program mode and finally after about an hour of frustration and rereading the directions, I called the guys at Aerotronics who had installed my panel. My recollection is that they suggested some sort of magic like pushing two particular buttons at once to get the software to trip into the correct mode. It's possible this came from my onsite wiring guy rather than Aerotronics. So obviously, I don't know the secret handshake even now, and am not entirely sure who taught it to me, but I do know that it worked and I could then reliably get into the desired mode. You might try calling up Gary Wirrell at Aerotronics or his smart guys to see if they can help. Try cleaning the contacts and make sure that the card is in fully, reformat it on a PC and sprinkle holy water on it. In general it is good to have a few around. There is a limit on the size so 16 meg is good (forgot what the limit is). You can still find smart media cards online- ebay and olympus still sells them, but another option is to get an adapter that uses xD cards which are more readily available.
