That sound like a bad SM card alright. As for a source, I found that a little more difficult. I bought three extras a few years ago, and dispite trying to be careful I'm on the second of those three already. As a backup I bought a SMC to SD  adapter off the internet. The SD cards are realily available. I tested it with one load and it worked fine. I don't remember who I bought the adapter front. It was some Taiwan company and cost about $10. Just Google SMC to SD adapter and pick your poison.
