No header tank necessary for a forward
hinged canopy. A bulkhead that replaces the aft wall of the header tank will
need constructed. I tried to send a picture of mine but for what ever reason it
has not shown up on the LML yet. So I guess it won’t.
You can put the hydraulic pump anywhere
there’s room. Over the wheel well might work although I haven’t
measured that. If you don’t have a removable deck, don’t do it as
the difficulty to remove it or repair it would be real tough. On the aft side
of the firewall will be a challenge for such a bulky thing. Rudder pedals could
occupy the space for long legged people.
Any body wants to see a picture email me
off line.

Since you need to have the header tank for the forward
hinged canopy--put the Hydraulic pump inside the tank with your battery--there
should be room and make a top opening for access--I do not think there will be
room for your rudder pedals and the pump--it is tight.

I am omitting the header tank and have a fwd hinged canopy. I
am planning on
mounting the hydraulic pump fwd of the fwd hinge bulkhead most
likely on the
nose gear tunnel. I would like to review how builders have plumbed their
hydraulic lines when the hydraulic pump is located fwd of the instrument
panel.
Thank you for your help

[Take a look at the "Hydraulics / Landing Gear" page on the LML
website. There are a couple photos of my rough-in of the hydraulic system
with the pump mounted above the pax footwell. <Marv> ]
