Dear Lancairians,
LOBO will sponsor its second Condition Inspection Workshop at Creve Coeur Airport (1h0) on September 12-13, 2009. Creve Coeur airport is
located 7 nm west of St. , Missouri Lambert field underneath Class B airspace.
This two-day event will start at 9 AM each day and continue to 5 PM, with a no-host lunch. There will be a $50 fee for the event to defray refreshment and other expenses. Aircraft parking is on the main ramp. Auto park in the lot as you enter the airport on the southeast side of the airfield if driving; If staying overnight, we’ll
arrange to tie your aircraft down on the ramp—please bring your own tiedowns. We will have limited ground transportation available. Enterprise rental car is available. Holiday Inn Express St. Louis Airport Riverport 13735 Riverport Dr. Maryland Heights, MO 63043 1-800-780-5733 is inexpensive lodging, close by (3 miles) and has a free shuttle. Harrah’s St. Louis is a little closer, a bit more expensive—but does have a casino. I do not know if their shuttle will deliver you to Creve Coeur.
The workshop will be focused on the annual condition inspection needs of Lancair composite aircraft, but is open to all LOBO members, EAA members and invited guests. The first day will focus on engine and related systems, and day two will focus on
composite airframes and airframe components. We plan to use Bob Rickard’s IV-P as the “inspection sample,” and to have a 320 or 360 for reference for inspection issues with these types.
We also expect to have a couple of local A&P/ IA’s on hand to assist and keep us honest. Both have extensive experience with homebuilding and general aviation aircraft maintenance, and we are very fortunate to have their talent and expertise available for this event.
Bob Pastusek and I are collecting information on issues that have shown up over the years, and would most sincerely appreciate any checklists, AD’s, deficiency reports, or similar things that apply to any model of Lancair aircraft that you can provide, preferably in electronic form. We will consolidate and post material provided to the LOBO web site http://www.lancairowners.com , and will reproduce all appro
priate material as handouts for this workshop. We also welcome any “advance” questions so we can research and include answers as part of this workshop.
Based on interest, we plan to have the capability to conduct weight and balance, pitot/static, altimeter and transponder system tests, as well as dynamic prop balancing—on a fee paid basis (cost dependent upon # signed up)—on Saturday. We’ll offer these if we have a minimum of three—for either—so let me know ASAP of your interest in these. To permit planning for handouts, refreshments and system checks, please advise me by email at vtailjeff@aol.com or phone (314-308-6719—leave a message) of your intention to attend; whether you will be flying in or driving; and your desire to use any of the above paid services. The deadline for advising of your attendance will be 6 September.
Although this event is planned and sponsored by LOBO,
encourage your non-LOBO friends to come with you…and to join LOBO.
Bob and I look forward to seeing you the second weekend in September. Mark your calendar now, and be sure to send me an RSVP!
