My Assembly Manual describes decoring a portion of the firewall to mount the canopy gas strut bracket. It mentions that in later models the firewall will come decored.(as mine did)

The manual required 8 bid carbon reinforcement extending 2" beyond the manually decored area.  That required 8 pieces of 6X7 inch carbon fiber per bracket. My question is the factory decored area is much larger than required for the bracket and would take a total of 16 each 9x11 inch pieces of carbon fiber to cover the area with a 2" margin. Am I reading this right? Does the whole decored area need to be reinforced? That's alot of carbon.
