James,
I bought 3M leading edge tape from Lancair in 1999 and kept it on for 2 years. The tape did not yellow. I could not detect a speed difference. I then took off the tape and have flown for the last 8 years, in all kinds of weather, without the tape. I can see no marks at all on the leading edges. You might want to look more closely at the type of paint you are using.
I recently purchased some "fiberglass" tape from ACS. I used it on the flap where the flap was rubbing on the wing. I didn't lake the tape because it was a brown color. The sun apparently bleaches this type of tape white (or clear) instead of yellow.

Hello all,
In lieu of immediately painting my leading edges (again), I believe I'm
looking for whatever the best solution is for leading edge tape as a
temp fix.
