Bill,
Yes I feel your pain, as have others who dealt with Performance. After
going through the same mess that you are experiencing, I would have to
say that actually Ron et al are not crooks. REALLY crappy business
people perhaps but not crooks. I expect you will get your engine and
exhaust and it will work fine. Mine was missing a few small parts but
we got that sorted out. Mine came with a bent oil pressure relief valve
but Mark Mahnke diagnosed that. Then the engine ran fine until a valve
seat broke and sent compression to zero. Performance said to send it
back and they would turn it in 2 or 3 days. The 2-3 days turned into a
month, but I got it back and she runs as sweet as ever. And a no-charge
repair.
I suggest that you start posting complaints on all the builders web
sites and ask those members to send Performance a note asking for them
to make good on their promise. If you are not a member then find a
buddy who is. When Ron and Stuart starts to get e-mails from builders
all over the country, Performance will take the time, move your project
up in priority, and get it done. It worked for me.
