Hi Gene,

The post from Sco= tt and the schematic doesn't have the spec for the diode on it, but I recall talk= ing to a local electronic guru who assured me that a diode from Radio Shack= would work to prevent the high voltage spikes... but that info is at the airport.
The problem I had= was because I had wired the landing gear so that I could pull the bre= aker for the hydraulic pump, while the master eminedremained on. = The master  runs continuous 12v through the solenoids, which are not= continuous duty, and I melted the down solenoid, while adjusting the= gear light switches.
That caused me to= realize that what Scott said was true.... the only way to prevent this happeni= ng was to wire the solenoids after the big 50a breaker for the hydraul= ic motor ... which I did.  Thus, as soon as the pump increases the= pressure enough the pressure switches cut off voltage to the solenoids.
I also repla= ced the melted solenoid.  And to obviate the spikes, wired a diode into= the plus side of the solenoid... will check the diode  tomorrow at th= e airport.
