 I saw this same thing on the last plane I built, N598RM, a propjet completed
last year. I attributed it to lack of attention to detail when the horizontal
skins were assembled in the fast build at the factory, all previous kits I
have seen were flat.
 
 I don't buy the Lancair explanation, it makes no sense. Hope this helps,
