I couldn't find any mention in the archives- I hope this will help those setting up the retract mechanism:
Clamping the gear box vertical allows the legs to rest against the stops for adjusting the rack positions. It's easy to wiggle the gear legs and find the point at which the teeth mesh fully, also to adjust pressure on the stop pin. I'm assuming the pin should be centered in its groove so it can move easily in or out as needed. Is this correct?
After that's done the through bolts can be inserted so the arms can be adjusted and the cylinder retaining bolts tightened. I had to disassemble each side when I found that the threaded holes in the cylinders hadn't been tapped deeply enough for the bolts. A bottoming tap took care of that but people might want to check before initial assembly. -Bill Wade
