Anyone out there running into problems with governor being able to keep up RPM on a counterweighted MT prop using the MT governor?

Dan,

I have an MT 4-blade and MT governor on my TSIO-550E/ Lancair IV-P. The prop governor was very fast acting when changed with the pitch control. Not really a problem, but after just a few hours during test flying, I could feel a steady surge in the airframe during cruise flight. This did not show on any of the MVP-50 engine monitored functions. I called MT and they asked me to return the governor for mod. They did this in a 3-4 day turnaround and it’s worked flawlessly since. I did not inquire as to the specific mod they made, but it at least included some type of flow restrictor on the pitch change regulator, as it operates more like a Hartzell prop now during prop cycles… and no more surging at all.

Suggest you give Sara Denton or Jurgen Zahner a call at (386) 736-7762 in FL. They were most helpful to me.
