What concerns me in your post is the part about installing a 360 with CS
prop in a 235 airframe. Have you discussed that installation with any
other 235 builders? To be a bit negative, this idea has death written all
over it.
With fuel, the plane will be way over the 1400/1500 pound factory
specified gross weight unless you fly it remotely with no pilot or
passenger aboard. And unless you put a significant counter weight
(like the battery) on the rear horiz. stab., the plane will be nose heavy
and out of the usable CG range. Also, the cowls will have to be
extensively modified as they are not wide enough to accommodate a 360.
Oh, about the 235 strut. They can sent to the factory to
be re-built and upgraded for about $850.

Subject: [LML] 235 Oleo Nose Strut
I am asking for information concerning the
pnuematic oleo nose strut for a Lancair 235. I have been looking
for a strut to convert my 235 from the stiff dog leg style to the pneumatic
one. I am confused as to which ones are the correct one. I
understand some have poor centering capability(early model) and some are from
various manufacturers. I am sure some of you have seen the one for sale
on Ebay. Is the one of the good ones or one to stay away from. I
have the same question about the front nose fork also. I intend to run
an IO360 with c/prop if this has any bearing as to the weight. If any
one has any information about this please let me know. I would like to
obtain the right one the first time. Thanks!
