I have a brochure from Engine Components Inc. written by George Altgelt who
is credited with originating chrome plating on cylinders that recommends
this procedure (tow to runup area, check leaks, etc.). He also recommended
running the engine at 90% + power for 5 min. periods with 1 min. or so at 65
to 75% or as necesssary to keep the temps out of red line. The idea being
to avoid glazing the cyl. walls before break-in can occur. Steve
