Im Working on the main gear and while up on jacks I noticed my main gear had a lot of free play fwd and aft between the 2 aluminum mounting pads. I had about 1/8" free play. The manual suggests adding bid plies on the aft spar to fix this problem. After carefully looking over my set up and manually cycling the gear over and over. I come to the conclusion that I really need to add shim to the fwd GM4 mounting point, thus moving my gear aft 1/8". This gives me the most clearance of all the gear parts and tire when retracting the gear. So here is what I did. I bonded on an 1/8" phenolic pad to the hardpoint on the main spar. Then I bolted up the GM4 and the pad effectively moved the GM4 piece aft 1/8" and getting rid of all my free play. Does anybody see any problem with this fix?
