Just trying to clarify something here:
IF you:
Constructed your wings via:
Lower wing – ribs – cells bonded together then
Sealed with Jeffco Fuel tank sealer.
Top skin wing skin painted with Jeffco fuel tank sealer excluding
bond area.
Top skin bonded to lower spars – ribs –cells via
Hysol …..
Will the above construction suffer issues with 10% ethanol Fuel
? How about auto fuel NO ethanol (if you could find it?)
I guess I do not understand the comment below about Lower wing
skins…
Did Jeffco – lancair ever use different types of Jeffco
Fuel sealer ? or was there only one fuel sealer ? (looking for info from say
2000 on ……) or have all versions been fine for 10% ethanol ?
Thanks everybody
Jeff.
If
your lower wing skins were attached with Hysol It will not work !! Jeffco
has another epoxy you can use if they havent been closed yet. I have those
numbers if you would like them... A sad voice of experience.......

Subject: Auto Fuel -- Again
Lycoming's recent announcement that they will be certifying
the standard compression O-360 and IO-360 for auto fuel has me wondering about
the other components in my fuel system, especially since most auto gas these
days contains alcohol. These are the components that I'd like to know are
compatible with auto gas. If you can shed any light on this, I'd like to
know.
I am not intending to revive the Avgas-vs-autogas debate. I am merely
trying to make sure that I am not making my airplane incapable of using auto
gas.
Jeffco fuel tank sealer
Facet fuel pump
Tygon fuel lines
Aeroquip 601/AE701 fuel line
Rubber O-rings in gas caps purchased from Lancair
Dukes fuel pump
Andair gascolator
O-rings used on fuel pump fittings
I think that's the complete list, other than engine components which would be
addressed by Lycoming.
