Food for thought regarding static buildup since this seems to be a hot
subject this week. While flying the prototype 360, in the vicinity of
thunderstorms (10-15 miles) I had a discharge from my hand to the instrument
panel. No visible moisture on or in the immediate vicinity.
I'll let the paint experts comment on the contents (fine aluminum and other
metalic components) in the finishes available. There is a primer out there
that advertises itself as non-conductive. ??? Leads me to think that
grounding the airplane and cap isn't a completely bad idea for re-fueling.
