Scott Alair was kind enough to give me a call yesterday about my post
regarding my oil blow-by problem. In my haste to ask for help on the LML I said my compressions were ranging from 68 to 70 psi .
Last night I checked the engine logs and found out the compressions are between 78 and 80 psi. The compressions were taken during
an annual about 2 months ago. Suppose I should recheck the compressions, Thanks Scott for the help, sorry to give you bad data.
BTW, my engine oil is clear as a bell: so clear it's difficult to determine oil level. If the issue is a bad ring
or two, wouldn’t my compressions suffer? Could there be an issue with the oil ring? We run 10 tractor trailers at work
and have a mechanic on staff. He thinks the oil rings have carbon build-up and suggests I add an additive that will clean the rings of
carbon. Is this a good idea? Abe Gaskins cell 615-642-2310
