Been down this road a few times, discovered a few things.

#1. Be the nicest guy who is trying to build or buy a hanger.  The airport
mgr., line guys, airport bums, etc. will know when someone is "thinking
about selling their hangar", but stick your Hangar Wanted Sign up next to
the rest of them anyway.

#2. Its a Whole Lot easier and faster to buy than to build.

#3. If you get in the hangar construction business its good to be the guy
they want to help and not the antagonist that pushed the bureaucratic
buttons.  Lots of approvals were required at our little field,  Airport
Mgr., Neighboring Hanger Owners (I built a 50x50 box hangar on an odd shape
lot), Airport Commission, (multiple)Building Dept., Fire Dept.(which
blindsided me with the biggest delay of them all).

#4. Know that you are also getting in the real estate business, this is
going to take time away from your project and have all the little annoyances
like a leaking roof (after 7 years of leaks behind insulation you can bet I
have tried everything), insurance, a door that isn't right, etc., etc..

Have I made a good case for renting??  Steve
