I searched the internet for small diameter gas springs with enough stroke
for the dual nose gear link and found several that looks like they will work
from Service Plus Distributors (Bristol Pa
215-639-7810):
P/N Stroke ExtL* Force Cyl dia Rod dia Threads
SPD-GS-7651 4.25" 10.25" 40# 0.59" 0.25" 6mm
SPD-GS-7845 4.00" 9.375" 60# 0.59" 0.25" 6mm
* This is the extended length without rod end fittings (end of
cylinder to end of push rod minus threads). You can use a rod end
with 0.25" threads (fits very good with the 6mm threads) and
appropriate sized spherical bearing to get the length you need.
Aurora (from ACS) makes a good and cheap female rod end bearing for
this application.
The rod end bearings on both ends makes installation very easy cause you can
angle the gas struts outboard to clear the bolt head/nuts without any fear
of binding. SPD does have a good sales staff that will work to try to find
a size and force rating that will work for your application.
