Chris' reply answers that by stating that the impact on both the cowling and the exhaust system is severe. I will have to stick with vertical induction. Randy,

Yes, there are several alternative systems.  Superior used to make a composite one, now changed to metal, and there are a couple of other alternatives.  My question was on the impact of using this type of induction is a 360 cowling.  Chris' reply answers that by stating that the impact on both the cowling and the exhaust system is severe.  I will have to stick with vertical induction.

Subject: [LML] Horizontal Induction

Has anyone fitted a 360 with a Lycoming engine with horizontal induction?  I am about to buy my engine, and am tempted by the apparent benefits of using a horizontal induction sump.  However Superior for one stated that their orignal sump did not fit a 360.  If you did fit an engine with horizontal induction, what modifications to the cowling and the exhaust were needed, and was it worth it?  Thanks.
